Trump delivers Dallas midterm keynote; floats $5,000 ‘Trump dividend’ if GOP holds Congress

President Donald Trump gave Wednesday night’s keynote at the Republican Party’s first national midterm convention at Dallas’s American Airlines Center, urging voters to “pretend” he is on the Nov. 3 ballot and promising a $5,000 “Trump dividend” to every adult U.S. citizen if Republicans keep the House and Senate, conditioned on spending the money in the United States. NBC News reported the White House did not immediately detail funding for the roughly $1.35 trillion idea. Trump also said the Iran war would end after Election Day, drew boos when he praised Senate Majority Leader John Thune, and again backed Texas AG Ken Paxton for Senate. Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) appeared in a prerecorded video introducing Sen. Dave McCormick (R-Pa.). Trump returns Thursday after Vice President JD Vance’s keynote.
