Trump: U.S. could stay in Iran and ‘keep the oil’; asks Zelenskyy to spare Russian diesel

At the Irish Open in Doonbeg on Sunday, President Trump said the United States could “stay and keep the oil” in Iran, comparing that option to his administration’s Venezuela oil arrangement, and added that Venezuela revenue had “paid for the war many times.” He said the Iran war may end around or just after the November midterms and that gasoline would then “drop like a rock.” NBC News reported he also told reporters he had asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to stop targeting Russian diesel/refining infrastructure because those strikes were “hurting the world” amid record U.S. diesel prices. Monday crude still jumped toward $108.
